Owner Adam Kerr approached the SGA after learning of our award for young gamekeepers, whilst exhibiting at GWCT Scottish Game Fair last year.
Following positive discussions, Quailhollow Kennels will now sponsor this year’s award, adding a £400 voucher to the prize pot for Scotland’s best young gamekeeper.
Advocates for the profession
The SGA Young Gamekeeper of the Year award recognises practitioners in the early stages of their career who, by their management and approach, prove themselves to be youthful ambassadors for the profession on land or river.
Nominations for the 2026 award will close on Friday 19th June, with the presentation to be made at Scone on Friday July 3rd.
Last year, Daniel Sloss – a Wildlife ranger apprentice who runs a shoot at his local estate and helps the family venison business- landed the prize, fighting off stiff competition.
“When I heard of the SGA recognising the young keeper of the year I immediately thought it was something I would like to get behind, as a man who enjoys time on estates up and down the country, either shooting, picking up or running in field trials,” said Quailhollow Kennels owner, Adam.
“I thought it would be great if I could use my business to support the keepers nationwide who put all the hard work and effort in to allow us country people to enjoy our sport.”
The SGA is hugely grateful to Quailhollow Kennels for its support of young people in the profession.
