Why Join

Firstly, you don't need to be a gamekeeper to join the SGA. Our membership encompasses sporting syndicates and general country sports enthusiasts, including many anglers, who appreciate the work the SGA does. You will, however, have access to many member benefits.

As a Scottish Gamekeepers Association member, you have access to one of the best value memberships in the UK.

There are a range of membership grades and options which give you exactly the type of insurance cover you require, whether a full-time gamekeeper, a land or river ghillie, a stalker, fisherman or a syndicate or recreational shooter. You won’t pay extra for things you won’t need.

Our syndicate and recreational members know that, without the vital land management work of experienced gamekeepers, stalkers, ghillies, wildlife managers and rangers, the quality of their sporting experience would diminish greatly.

When you join The Scottish Gamekeepers Association you become part of a strong representative body that will campaign on behalf of your jobs and sport, from fighting for the reversal of the tail docking ban affecting our working dogs to standing up against irresponsible salmon netting and fish farming and working to retain the legal tools our members need to carry out essential countryside work.

Membership gives you access to specialist SGA legal representatives and specialist SGA Human Resources support for employment issues. Our regular member communications will keep you up to date with all legislative changes affecting your activities or sport.

You will also get our free quarterly member magazine, Scottish Gamekeeper, delivered straight to your door; packed with useful news and updates, campaigns, best practice notifications and in-depth features. Members also gain a special password for access to the Members Section of the website. On this new website, we’ll be adding a special new members section where the SGA family can buy and sell small industry-related products without having to pay a fee (to go live soon). There are further benefits like our exclusive discount scheme with Ford UK, which entitles members to reductions on work and private vehicles.

When training and professional development courses become available, you will be notified immediately, giving you access to skills development. We’ve also added an Employer Membership, where employers can request estate visits from trained SGA staff, helping to ensure they comply with best practice.

Since formation in 1997, The Scottish Gamekeepers Association has been regarded as a powerful campaigning voice for its members and their interests in Scotland.
