Thousands of Salmon, eels and birds were killed at Knockando burn in the pollution incident which is being investigated by SEPA.
It is the second pollution incident on the Spey in recent days.
The SGA Fishing Group, which represents ghillies and river workers, understands one of the poisoned birds was a raptor which either drank the water or fed on poisoned fish.
“There needs to be accountability. What chance have Salmon got when you see incidents like this,” said Group member, Duncan Ferguson.
“There are no invertebrates left, thousands of fish have died. This part of the river is now basically inert. It’s a tragedy and it can’t be repeated.”
It has been estimated that it may take five or more years for this 2km stretch of water to recover.
