Enter the first SGAYC 7-a-side competition

The Scottish Gamekeepers Association Youth Commitee is running a 7-a-side competition in May

The SGA Youth Committee (SGAYC) is delighted to present the first ever SGAYC FUN 7-a-side football competition

It’s going to be a hoot, with funds going towards the group’s educational activities on land and river management in Scotland.

We are now looking for 12 teams across the land and river management sectors to come forward to comprise the first competitors (with a view to extending out to the wider public after year one).

The SGAYC hopes to make this an annual FUN event in the social calendar.

Some details:

Date and Venue: Donaldson Park, Milnathort Saturday 31st May, 9am to 2pm. There is on-street parking around the park perimeter on 2 sides and other on-street spaces in Milnathort village.

Facilities: SGAYC will have use of the pitch (grass) and the indoor clubhouse through a kind arrangement with local football club, Kinross Colts FC.

Changing rooms, toilets, kitchen and bar area, seating are all on-site.

The surrounding park contains a children’s play area.

Fun Competition details: 3 groups of 4 teams will play group matches on pitches divided into thirds across the pitch, rather than the length of the pitch. Group winners and the highest placed runner-up will play off in a semi final and then the (Champions League) final. Matches will be 5 minutes each way with a short break in between for water and general resuscitation!

Teams of 10 are advised to allow for rolling substitutions (we’re not all CR7!)

Mixed teams very welcome.

Teams from the land and river sectors are allowed to augment their team with pals/family members to make up their 10.

Every team will be guaranteed 30 mins of FUN football, with the finalists playing 50!

Referees will be friends/Committee members so don’t expect VAR-quality decisions (or maybe you should, given your stance on VAR?!)

Matches will start roughly at 9.20am following rules/registrations. The playing part is timetabled to finish around mid-day, with 2 hours left for socialising, replenishing etc.

Each team should bring 1 item for a Raffle.

Football boots are recommended or trainers you don’t mind getting muddy!

Costs: £10 per player so £100 for teams of 10. We are looking for notes of interest NOW and the SGA office can take card payments. For all details, queries, payments, contact info@scottishgamekeepers.co.uk

Payments upfront are recommended, to help with planning and overheads

Teams are responsible for their names so get creative! All teams require a name.

Fans: People who are not competing are very welcome to attend and join the FUN. It’s a fun family day. Supporters can bring their best singing voices and good-natured heckling is fully expected.

What else?

There will be soup/sandwiches and snacks for sale throughout in the clubhouse as well as teas/coffees, soft and alcoholic drinks (after 10am)

Activities for kids will be provided (not as newsworthy as the Willy Wonka experience!)

A Raffle will be held in the clubhouse after the competition.

Get involved: If you’d like to support the SGAYC and the event by sponsoring, donating or providing raffle items, please contact info@scottishgamekeepers.co.uk

Let’s go!

Warning: Football is (probably not) coming home!!!!
