Senior Stalker & Highland Lodge Housekeeper (Couple
Role)
We are seeking an experienced and reliable couple to take on a dual role
combining Senior Deer Stalker duties with Highland Lodge Housekeeping based at the beat of Forest Lodge,
set in the heart of Glen Tilt and Atholl Estate.
This is a long-term opportunity for a couple looking to live and work in a
remote but well-supported estate environment, with a strong emphasis on professionalism, discretion, and
pride in standards.
Role 1: Senior Stalker
The Senior Stalker will be responsible for the effective management of the
beat’s wild deer population in line with best practice, hosting of guest stalking, care of ponies,
habitat creation, conservation and restoration activities. The role would report to the Head Stalker,
with opportunity for a forward-thinking, experienced candidate to lead the team of Beat Stalker and
ghillies. We are looking for a candidate with experience in grouse management, as well as a minimum of
five years' experience as a Beat Stalker with highland ponies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Cull planning, delivery, and accurate record keeping
- Leading and carrying out deer stalking operations (red and roe)
- Hosting guest stalking days
- Larder management and venison handling in line with SQWV standards
- Training and care of highland ponies
- Grouse planning and management
- Habitat and biodiversity management
- Maintaining property, vehicles and equipment
- Assisting with wider estate management tasks as required
Essential requirements:
- DSC Level 2
- Firearms Certificate
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
- Professional, safety-focused approach
Role 2: Highland Lodge Housekeeper
Forest Lodge is a busy traditional 10-bedroom hunting lodge that can
accommodate up to 20 guests. The Housekeeper will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of
cleanliness, presentation, and comfort within the estate lodge for holiday guests and sporting parties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Housekeeping and deep cleaning of lodges
- Stock control
- Laundry and linen care
- Preparing lodges for arrivals and turnarounds
- Assistance during guest stays (where required)
- Working with the wider housekeeping team who will support with the care of the Lodge
- There will also be the opportunity for additional housekeeping within other areas of the estate, if
of interest
Essential requirements:
- Previous experience in housekeeping, hospitality, or lodge management
- High standards of cleanliness and organisation
- Flexible and positive approach to guest requirements
- Discretion, reliability, and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work weekends and peak periods as required
- Full UK driving licence
