Join our first ever SGA Youth Committee

A major step in developing the SGA’s young people has been welcomed.

For the first time, the Scottish Gamekeepers Association will operate an SGA Youth Committee.

The Youth Committee will shadow and assist the work of the main Committee, while being supported to pursue its own projects and objectives.

Young people will be given the chance to attend stakeholder meetings, Parliament and other SGA activities.

Interested members or supporters are now being invited to join (see how, below).

SGA Young Gamekeeper of the Year 2023, Finlay Shand

The Youth Committee, announced at SGA24 last week, is an inclusive group aimed at those  considering a career in gamekeeping, river or land ghillie-ing or wildlife/land management, attending college, or in the early stages of their career.

Age, alone, is no hard and fast requirement or barrier.

The principal aim is to encourage and develop emerging voices so that they can help shape their own futures- and the industry.

The SGA would like to see participants from all aspects of the sector, with a wide geographical spread, in order to get the fullest range of fresh ideas.

Organisers don’t want the Committee’s activities to swallow up endless time but the SGA is appealing to bosses and Head staff to encourage the young people to take an active role for planned projects, meetings (in-person or remote), or events.

If you would like to join or want to know more, please contact the office on info@scottishgamekeepers.co.uk or communicate through messaging on Facebook, Instagram or X (formerly Twitter).
