Beat/Under Keeper, Southesk Estate, Angus

Job Description

• Assisting with the rearing of pheasants and partridges
• Pheasant release and management
• Responsibility for own beat
• Assisting with the management of the parkland herds of red and fallow deer as well as wild roe
• Helping to maintain a good relationships with the neighbouring farmers over which shooting rights are leased
• Vermin control for crop protection
• Working closely with the management team to maintain a safe working environment and culture and ensure all codes of conduct and best practice are adhered to.

The successful applicant will have experience in rearing from day old including feeding and watering, bitting and releasing. Additional duties will include general tidying up and maintenance, power washing equipment, mucking out sheds and repairing equipment. 

The successful applicant will be responsible for their own pheasant beat and all associated management aspects including vermin control, feeding and watering, dogging in and maintenance. They will also assist the head keeper to enhance and develop the shoot, working closely with the Estate team to maintain and develop the shoots reputation.

Candidates must have a clean drivers licence, firearms and Shotgun Certificates, and at least 5 years relevant experience.
