Invercauld Home Beat-Woodland Stalker/Grouse Beat Keeper                                                                                             

We are wishing to fill an exciting new position on the Home and Corndavon Beats of Invercauld Estate which are managed for the sustainable production of grouse and red and roe deer stalking.

The role is for an individual who will be involved in managing a woodland deer population for sport and protection of young woodland and also for looking after a beat of the grouse moor. The individual will be required to be flexible, working in all aspects of keepering, and willing to work as part of a team but also capable of working on their own.

Applicants for the position must be able to demonstrate considerable expertise in stalking both red and roe deer in both woodland and hill environments. Experience in trapping and snaring is also essential along with a good understanding of grouse moor management.

Strathmore Estates, Glamis is looking for an experienced, energetic and highly skilled gamekeeper to work as part of the team delivering world class sport and environmental management.

The job will involve running a beat keeper on a low ground shoot, vermin control, deer management, working as part of a team and contributing widely to the Estate.

The position will be available from March 2018 in time for the 2018 season.

Experienced Single handed Pheasant keeper – Flichity Estates, Farr

 The shooting estate is spread over approximately 1’500 acres with a mixture of woodland, grazing fields, and rough hill ground.

 Outline of Key Responsibilities

 To cover all game keeping aspects of running a successful pheasant shoot and producing quality shoot days for private and letting purposes.

To help with other estate matters as and when required or instructed.

Maintain a high quality of cleanliness and good housekeeping in all areas of the estate and shoot.

To assist with the transport of family members and guests e.g. airport runs etc.

To help from time to time with the care of family pets, when required.

To occasionally accompany/load/pick-up for any members of the family as and when needed.

You may also be required to undertake additional tasks or duties from time to time as necessary to meet the needs of the business

 The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

Possess a high standard of game keeping skills with good track records of employment

Excellent timekeeping, flexibility and attention to detail

Must work well as part of a team and be able to liaise well with other estate staff and others on the estate

The ability to communicate well with the owners and Estate Manager

Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative

Excellent levels of health and fitness and a positive disposition

Take pride in their work

Discretion at all times and a respectful attitude towards the Principals and their property

Clean driving licence

Candidates should also be experienced in using and maintaining a range of machinery.

We require a Beat/Under Keeper to start in the Spring of 2018 to assist the current team on a traditional sporting estate covering 25,000 acres of the North-West corner of the Isle of Arran.  A dynamic, ambitious applicant is required, with plenty of drive, energy and a passion for field sports to aid with the continued development of the game shooting department. Applicants should have experience of the management of pheasant/partridge/grouse and deer (DMQ1 required). A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role is mandatory post college qualification. Available for estate, keepering, caretaking or lodge work - 61 year old Englishman with experience of eight stag seasons and one hind season on five different highland estates as ponyman, walking ghillie, Argo/quad/Hagglunds driver. Some grouse and shepherding experience. Full driving licence (& 7.5 ton & trailer), DSC1, FAC, shotgun, LANTRA Argo ticket, RYA Powerboat 2, Food Safety 2, Emergency First Aid at Work.  Also, maintenance, lodge, kitchen, housekeeping and bar work experience.  Excellent communication and customer facing skills.  Any employment in the highlands with self-contained accommodation considered.
