Invercauld Home Beat - Woodland Stalker/Grouse Beat Keeper                                                  

We are wishing to fill an exciting new position on the Home and Corndavon Beats of Invercauld Estate which are managed for the sustainable production of grouse and red and roe deer stalking.

The role is for an individual who will be involved in managing a woodland deer population for sport and protection of young woodland and also for looking after a beat of the grouse moor. The individual will be required to be flexible, working in all aspects of keepering, and willing to work as part of a team but also capable of working on their own.

Applicants for the position must be able to demonstrate considerable expertise in stalking both red and roe deer in both woodland and hill environments. Experience in trapping and snaring is also essential along with a good understanding of grouse moor management.

An excellent package will be provided including a competitive salary, accommodation, use of a suitable 4x4 vehicle and dog and heating allowances.

 We are seeking a highly motivated Gamekeeper for our family shoot near Inverness.  We shoot 10-14 days a year on an Estate of approximately 1,500 acres with a mixture of woodland, grazing and rough ground, putting down around 8,000 birds, mainly pheasants with some partridges and ducks.

The successful candidate will be able to work on their own initiative but must also work well as part of the ‘Estate team’.    They will have at least 2-3 years of experience working on a shoot and will have a current shotgun/firearms licence.

The position requires the candidate to run a successful pheasant shoot, be able to take on all aspects of rearing birds and must be prepared to keep on top of vermin.

From time to time they maybe asked to assist with other estate matters such as collecting guests from the airport and assisting other members of the Estate team.

They must have excellent levels of health and fitness, be able to communicate well, have a clean driving licence and be experienced in using and maintaining a range of machinery.

We are offering a generous salary and will provide a 2 bedroom, detached cottage with kennels, outbuilding and small garden (council tax paid), and an Estate truck.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic and wanting to take a shoot with high potential onto the next level.

Available for estate, keepering, caretaking or lodge work - 61 year old Englishman with experience of eight stag seasons and one hind season on five different highland estates as ponyman, walking ghillie, Argo/quad/Hagglunds driver. Some grouse and shepherding experience. Full driving licence (& 7.5 ton & trailer), DSC1, FAC, shotgun, LANTRA Argo ticket, RYA Powerboat 2, Food Safety 2, Emergency First Aid at Work.  Also, maintenance, lodge, kitchen, housekeeping and bar work experience.  Excellent communication and customer facing skills.  Any employment in the highlands with self-contained accommodation considered.
