Experience in Deer management and conservation would be an advantage but not essential.
The Head Keeper will be responsible for the day to day supervision of one under keeper, one trainee keeper plus other seasonal and self employed staff.

Wester Ross – Stalker/caretaker and housekeeper/cleaner couple
Superb opportunity for a couple as sole caretaker/stalker (full-time) and housekeeper/cleaner (part-time) on a sporting estate in Wester Ross.
Red deer stalking and fishing on loch and river are the principal sporting activities. There are 4 holiday-let properties on the Estate.
The stalker/caretaker will be responsible for all operational aspects of running the Estate, including stalking and other outdoor activities and, importantly, take primary responsibility for cleanliness, preparedness of the properties for tenants and property and grounds care and maintenance. Handyman skills are a must. Mechanical skills would be an advantage, as would an enthusiasm for developing the overall business of the Estate.
The role of housekeeper/cleaner would be to assist in preparing the properties between lets and in welcoming tenants. There would be an opportunity to do kitchen and other work for tenants.
Both roles require a “self-starter” approach and excellent interpersonal skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen on a family Estate extending to 55,000 acres comprising of Red deer stalking, unique rough shoot with woodcock, plus some pheasant and partridge together with fishing on a salmon river and lochs. The successful candidate will lead a small team of 2 full time beat keepers and a trainee. The Estate also comprises a busy hotel, an in hand farming operation plus tenanted land. The Head keeper is expected to provide leadership and hands on commitment to the Game department and to work across all other areas of the business, it is imperative to have the ability to work as part of a team.
Boats and a good mechanical knowledge/ ability would be advantageous.

Recently graduated Elmwood College student where he was studying gamekeeping
From college he gained qualifications and valuable experience in the gamekeeping industry. He gained his Safe Shot qualification, Deer Biology and Quarry Species. He also gained experience in Deer Stalking, caring for and feeding pheasants and also running our own shoot on our estate. Also through this he has gained good communication skills and confidence.
