Beat Keeper - Cawdor Estate

Cawdor Estate is a diverse rural estate in Nairnshire with a prestigious shoot and well invested grouse moor.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated grouse moor beat keeper looking to take the next step in their career to join our team.  This position offers the opportunity to be involved in a large grouse moor with improving bags and exciting further potential.

Grouse moor management experience is essential, as is self-motivation, a professional attitude and willingness to work hard as part of a team, but also as a self-starter.

Preferred requirements:

  • 4 years’ hill keeping experience with a proven track record
  • Excellent vermin control skills
  • DSC 1

Hunting Guides/Game Farm/Underkeepers work in Canada

We are currently recruiting individuals to work at our Hunting/Shooting preserve in the Georgian Bay area of Ontario Canada.  Candidates must know farming/equipment operation and be willing to learn under our Head Keep. Training provided for Hunt guiding/dog handling.

Single Handed Keeper required for a major Irish Estate

 Applicant must have extensive knowledge of the rearing and releasing of Game birds.

 Role to include overseeing of Shoot programme and day-to-day management of the shoot, which includes 30 Driven days and numerous Walked-up days. To assist the rearing of birds on the Estates game farm. Hands on approach and to report to the Estate Manager on a daily basis.

 Successful Applicant will need the following;

 Minimum of 10 years experience in all aspects of keepering

  • Full Clean Driving Licence 
  • Own working dogs
  • Shotgun and Firearms certificates 
  • All relevant certificates 
  • Must be highly motivated with excellent organisational skills, 
  • Must have strong communication skills at all levels, and a passion for wildlife and conservation 

Excellent accommodation can be provided and package negotiable.

Grouse Beat Keeper – Tillypronie Estate, Aberdeenshire

Excellent opportunity for a Beat Keeper to join a progressive Estate as part of a significant Grouse Moor rejuvenation project.

Applicants must have a minimum of three years’ experience working with grouse and be professional, enthusiastic and self-motivated with experience of working alone and within a team. Applicants must also have full driving, firearms and shotgun licenses with other qualifications being an advantage.

Underkeeper / Stalker – Luss Estates

 Luss Estates Company is a modern, progressive and diverse rural business on the banks of Loch Lomond, bringing sustainable and modern direction to green energy generation, farming, forestry, nature conservation and game management. The Estate, which extends to around 42,000 acres, comprises a wide range of businesses including in-hand farm and game enterprises and lies only a few minutes away from the town of Helensburgh, half an hour from Glasgow International Airport and fifty minutes from Glasgow.

We are currently seeking to recruit an Underkeeper / Stalker to assist the Game Department Team. The position will suit an energetic and hard working individual, who will be able to work on his own and as part of the Game Team out on the hills in all weathers.

 The main duties of the role will include:

  • Delivering cull targets in line with our deer management plan
  • Stalking with clients
  • Vermin control
  • Monitoring of new forestry plantings
  • General Estate maintenance
  • Assisting with the commercially run Pheasant shoot

Candidates will need to demonstrate in their application that they have the following skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience with a proven track record in Hill and Woodland Deer Management;
  • DMQ level 1 & 2 and have the ability to larder Deer to SQWV standard;
  • Excellent vermin control skills;
  • Experience of working with Pheasants and assisting on shoot days;

The role reports to the Head Game Keeper of Luss Estates Company.

Tied housing will be provided on the Estate for the better performance of the Underkeeper / Stalker duties.

 The remuneration package for this role will be depending on experience.

RIVER MANAGER - RIVERS INVER & KIRKAIG, LOCHINVER, SUTHERLAND

Experienced and enthusiastic full time river manager required to oversee operations on the Rivers Inver & Kirkaig.

Duties include all aspects of river management, including accompanying family members and guests on the rivers, and estate, property and boat maintenance. Deer management experience also essential as some stalking is required, as is experience of operating sea vessels. Good house and competitive package provided.

Available for estate, keepering, caretaking or lodge work - 61 year old Englishman with experience of eight stag seasons and one hind season on five different highland estates as ponyman, walking ghillie, Argo/quad/Hagglunds driver. Some grouse and shepherding experience. Full driving licence (& 7.5 ton & trailer), DSC1, FAC, shotgun, LANTRA Argo ticket, RYA Powerboat 2, Food Safety 2, Emergency First Aid at Work.  Also, maintenance, lodge, kitchen, housekeeping and bar work experience.  Excellent communication and customer facing skills.  Any employment in the highlands with self-contained accommodation considered.
