Luss Estates Company is a modern, progressive and diverse rural business on the banks of Loch Lomond, bringing sustainable and modern direction to green energy generation, farming, forestry, nature conservation and game management. The Estate, which extends to around 42,000 acres, comprises a wide range of businesses including in-hand farm and game enterprises and lies only a few minutes away from the town of Helensburgh, half an hour from Glasgow International Airport and fifty minutes from Glasgow.

We are currently seeking to recruit an Underkeeper / Stalker to assist the Game Department Team. The position will suit an energetic and hard working individual, who will be able to work on his own and as part of the Game Team out on the hills in all weathers.

The main duties of the role will include:

  • Delivering cull targets in line with our deer management plan
  • Stalking with clients
  • Vermin control
  • Monitoring of new forestry plantings
  • General Estate maintenance
  • Assisting with the commercially run Pheasant shoot

Candidates will need to demonstrate in their application that they have the following skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience with a proven track record in Hill and Woodland Deer Management;
  • DMQ level 1 & 2 and have the ability to larder Deer to SQWV standard;
  • Excellent vermin control skills;
  • Experience of working with Pheasants and assisting on shoot days;

The role reports to the Head Game Keeper of Luss Estates Company.

Tied housing will be provided on the Estate for the better performance of the Underkeeper / Stalker duties.

The remuneration package for this role will be depending on experience.

Glenprosen Estate is a traditional mixed sporting estate situated in the heart of the Angus Glens.  A vacancy is available for a beat-keeper to join the team who should be experienced in all aspects of Upland Moorland Management with experience in deer stalking an advantage, although not essential. Outstanding opportunity for an individual or couple to work on an estate in a very remote and beautiful location on the West Cost. Applicants should be highly motivated self-starters with excellent organisational skills and a high degree of self-reliance.  You will be smart, communicative and have a sense of humour.  Access to the estate is only available by private boat via a sea loch, experience of boats is essential.

The Estate is approximately 14,500 acres and includes steep and high ground with a Lodge, rental properties and informal camp site.  You will work directly with the owners who have embarked on a programme of investment. Key duties are the daily running of the estate, maintaining the paths and fences, grass cutting and helping with the running of various projects. In addition, there is also the management and housekeeping of properties.

Your responsibilities include security and liaising with the owners, neighbours and visitors whether face-to-face, by telephone or email. An applicant with a background in agricultural engineering would be ideal.  Someone who enjoys and has experience in driving, maintaining and fixing a wide range of agricultural equipment, including tractors, diggers, quad bikes and dump trucks.  The applicant should be able to tend to generators, hydro turbines, battery banks, as well as the various boats, in and outboard engines, moorings and the pontoon.  An interest in farming and deer stalking is desirable.

A two-bedroom house is provided for the successful candidate.  Where applicable a couple will be considered for joint employment.  Excellent remuneration package available.
