The Scottish Gamekeepers Association is casting its net wide to find candidates for the 2012 Young Gamekeeper of The Year award.
The SGA prizes best practice and dedication to the craft and this year is putting forward a reward of a £125 voucher, plus coverage in Scottish Gamekeeper magazine, for a young keeper with these qualities in abundance.
If you employ, or work with, a young gamekeeper whom you feel deserves recognition, please send in your nomination, outlining why you think this person is worthy of this award.
Similarly, the SGA have contacted all Scottish colleges running Gamekeeping courses, to invite nominations from course leaders.
What the judges will be looking for is:
• Demonstrable passion for gamekeeping.
• Adherence to/appreciation of the law and best practice.
• Strong work ethic/willingness to learn.
• Good understanding of why gamekeeping is important in Scotland’s countryside.
Please send your entries to: The Editor, Scottish Gamekeeper on ks.writer@virgin.net by the closing date of June 30, 2012.
Candidates will be short-listed by the SGA Committee and the overall winner will be announced at the Moy Game Fair in August, following a round of short, informal interviews.
