The joys of modern communications.

I ordered some memory cards for my camera on- line which came by parcel force. No one was here to sign for the small package so they were handed into our local post office.

Many gamekeepers and stalkers will be having a well deserved rest after spending some very long days and nights working throughout the season and there is only a small window before it starts all over again.

Press Release 23 January 2009

All revved up – but nowhere to go! That’s how Fraser Gordon, a one-time Scottish motorcycle champion and the lucky winner of the Scottish Gamekeepers Association (SGA) raffle prize of a beautiful new Honda quad bike feels now that his £4500 set of wheels has been delivered to his town centre street in Musselburgh.

Fraser, an engineer at Cockenzie Power Station, is keen on rural pursuits like shooting and is a passionate supporter of the SGA which represents the interests of the country’s 1400 ‘keepers. He filled up the SGA’s book of raffle tickets purely to help the organisation’s fund raising effort, but never for a minute did he expect to win the shiny green quad.

“It was a fantastic surprise and I’m desperate to use it by getting onto land and helping farmers or gamekeepers with vermin control, but in East Lothian there are very few opportunities. I can use it to help my cousin who’s a gamekeeper at Oxenford, but I grew up on a farm, have a shotgun licence and am experienced in shooting, so it would be great if I could get access to land to shoot pigeons or rabbits,” he said.

In the meantime Fraser will be sticking to two wheels rather than four with his other Honda, the sporty CBR 600 RR, as another passion continues to be motor cycling.
