Why oh why is Scotland the only country in the UK to still have the ban on tail docking of working dogs?

December 20th

Just back in from ferreting a plantation of young larch and scots pine trees. I am soaked to the skin and frozen. My daughter is visiting us with her boyfriend and I thought it would be a good chance for him to see some different animal tracks in the snow.

December 9th

I am not a happy chappy. I was cutting old rabbit fences away this morning and my ear is bleeding profusely. I detest that high tensile wire; when you cut it with the wire cutters it goes off like a coiled spring. It felt like I had been shot in the ear.

SGA members can login to find information about member services including a description of insurance cover, a pdf copy of key articles from the latest Scottish Gamekeeper Magazine, general advice and a members-only calendar. We will be adding more information and facilities as well, so please check back from time to time to see what has been happening!

You can also use the Incident report form to notify us of anything in your area that you think we should be aware of, or which might help combat poaching or rural crime.

Setting up your login

To login for the first time, please go to the login page. At the bottom of the page click on new account then enter your membership number in the user name field, then your current e-mail address. You will receive an automatic acknowledgement which will state that your account is pending approval by the site administrator. The office will check for an up-to-date membership number. Once this is confirmed, you will receive a further e-mail with login instructions and a quick link to enable you to set your password.

Should you change e-mail address and want to retain your member login, please advise the office and we can update your e-mail to ensure you can continue to access the member area.
